|2016 Compete for a Cause|
The 2016 Compete for a Cause event was a huge success! We are proud to announce that we raised $37,000 to help fund the battle against Childhood Cancer. This year brought in the Haslett and Williamston communities through satellite games, a Mason volleyball invitational, a Mason home football game against DeWitt, a Mason swim event and our first annual 5k. Capping the week’s activities was a truly amazing evening of Okemos vs. Mason soccer with an estimated crowd of 2,000. Over 1,000 t-shirts were sold, filling the stadium with gold ribbon awareness and in the weeks since we’ve spotted them throughout our communities, continuing to spread our message.
The proceeds from this year’s event will be donated to the MSU Pediatric Oncology Clinic and the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. The clinic is truly grateful to have the support and we are excited about the projects that they have planned in support of local kids battling cancer. St. Baldrick’s Foundation is an exceptional national organization that is the largest, non-government funder of childhood cancer research grants and we are thankful for the opportunity to support their work.
This event could not have been possible without the outstanding support of our soccer teams, soccer team parents, our administration and our community. It is our plan to continue this event annually. Thank you for all of your support, you have helped make a difference in the lives of children battling cancer.
